Today I am pleased to welcome Ashlynne Laynne to my site to talk about her brand new book, The Progeny.

“No fate other than the one I choose.” The timeless creed, and tattoo, bore by the Rousseau’s— a vampire clan with the purest bloodline of any vampire family. Out of this clandestine group came one who was different, yet the same: Ascher – a half-bloodling— half- human, half vampire.
Ascher questions the purpose for his existence and which world he truly belongs to: the human world or the vampire world. Two months from sealing to Ursula— a prearranged union to a woman he abhors — he’s at his wit’s end. He knows if he calls off the sealing, the Romanian clan will strike with deadly force, but he cannot see eternity with a cold empty shell of a woman like Ursula.

About The Progeny

At its core, The Progeny is simply a story about a man and woman who fall in love, and the fact that he’s a half-blood (half-human, half vampire) and she’s a Wiccan human are secondary factors. It started as research about the Salem witch trials, some rough sketches of a special family heirloom that my guys would wear and two names—Ascher and Shauna. In the beginning, of the book, Ascher is grumpy. Frankly, who could blame him? He’s engaged to seal to Ursula—a cold and careless vampire who wants nothing more than to get her hands on a bloodstone— and he feels conflicted about his existence.

All of that changes when he meets Shawnette McCutchin. She’s beautiful, intriguing and possesses some of the most potent blood that he’s ever smelled. A war immediately begins inside Ascher. He craves Shauna’s blood just as much as he craves her body and the closer they get, the harder it is for him to control his urges. After Ascher calls off the sealing to Ursula, the trouble begins. His family’s peaceful period ends when Ursula’s army attacks the Rousseaus. Kidnapping, some steamy love scenes between our hero and heroine and Wiccan rage complete the plot.

In a move so fast that her eyes crossed, he disappeared, reappearing in the middle of the bed, behind her. He turned her to him, resting his hands in the small of her back, pulling her closer until she was in his lap— her legs twisting around him. They stared into one another’s eyes, their bodies clinging. She was eye to eye with him, unlike when they stood and he towered above her.

His hands wandered over her body as his mouth kissed along her neck. He paused to flip her onto the bed but her arms locked around him, preventing him from laying her down.

She shook her head and whispered, “No,” then raised herself off of him, freeing his erection from the pressure of her bottom. Her mouth kissed his neck, his chest, making her way down his quivering stomach and its thin trail of dark hair. She grasped him, wrapping her hand around the engorged rod. It reacted to her touch by standing at full attention.

A yearning sparked in him, a feeling he’d only imagined in his mind. It felt good—too good, to be right. It was wrong—very wrong. He groaned then gently wound his hand into her hair, making sure to get a good handful. He couldn’t let her do that, not while she was still human.

“Shauna, no.” he whispered, bringing her head back up to his.

She glanced at him a combination of bewilderment and hurt in her eyes. “Why? You’ve pleasured me in this way. I just wanted to return the favor.”

“Doing that could be so dangerous for you. Only after we seal.”

“Why is it so dangerous for me?” she asked, her eyes now wide with fear.

He grabbed both sides of her head, kissing her to try and calm her. “I’ve talked to Tristan about that. He said I might lose control. This is why I can’t allow you to do that. I can’t guarantee your safety otherwise. Vampire bodies are very sensitive. When we make love, it can be very physical. We growl, scratch, and sometimes bite each other. That’s why I teased you about seeming immortal. I only scratched you after you scratched me. I’ve never felt as out of control as the first time we were together.”

“I’m sorry.”

“What are you apologizing for? There’s no need to be sorry. I still have to mind myself when we’re together. You’re still in danger when we make love. I’m able to control myself better, now that you’re no longer a trinity, but your blood still appeals to me and I could still harm you if I’m not careful. Have patience. We have an eternity to make love. When the time is right, we’ll explore new and exciting ways to pleasure one another. I look forward to experiencing everything with you. Don’t worry. I’m very satisfied with our lovemaking. You’re amazing.”

He sifted his hands through her hair, pulling her lips back to his. He was satisfied at his newfound self-control. His thirst was minimal and his eyes weren’t morphing. It was nice to look normal, even if he wasn’t. He couldn’t imagine how difficult it must be to make love to someone who tended to look more beastly than human, when he was aroused.

She steadied herself over him again, bowing her back and raising her hips to descend on him.

He grabbed her arms, stopping her descent. “I don’t think we’re ready for that, either. You only lost your virginity last night. You could be hurt.”

“Ascher,” she sighed with frustration. “Do you seek out things that could hurt me?”

“Your safety is important.”

“And my pleasure…?” she asked.

“My priority, as well.”

“If we take it easy, you won’t hurt me. I want every sexual experience with you. This is one we haven’t tried.”

He was reluctant, but he decided to give in. He could see the curiosity swirling in her eyes. “I don’t know if we can make this work.” He probed her with a gentle finger. “You’re still too tight. I’m so scared I’ll hurt you.” He gave her another finger and attempted to gauge her pain. She was blocking. “Let me guide you and if it hurts, promise that you’ll tell me.”

“I promise.”

He lifted her, one hand clutching her waist, while the other directed his erection into position. Her breasts at his face level, he held her up to suckle them, teasing the nipples until they were taut.

Concentrating on not hurting her, he closed his eyes, resting his face against her neck. He’d be able to gauge her pulse and breathing much easier this way.

“I’m going to lower you slowly. If it hurts you, I’ll stop. “He lowered her until he rested just outside her, urgently pressing against her opening.

She whimpered.

He lifted her off him and stared into her eyes to be sure she told the truth. “Does that hurt you?”

She bit down hard on her lip. “A little bit, but I’m okay. Please don’t stop, Ascher.”

He lowered her again, brushing her neck with his tongue. She gradually opened to him as he gave her cautious and gentle thrusts, his hands guiding the movement of her hips. He watched her eyes widen as she took more of him. He was surprised, and delighted, that she was able to take all of him.

Her anguished whimpers became moans of pleasure. Both their eyes rolled in their heads as he continued to lower and raise her. She was his match, a mold shaping to fit him.

He gripped her back again, releasing her hips to allow her control of the thrusting. Her movements were shaky and uncoordinated at first. Eventually, she found a rhythm, becoming more confident with twisting and looping her hips in tight circles. His pale complexion flushed, the fire burning in his skin and spine, threatening to bury him in orgasm. Several times, he seized her hips to cease her movement, preventing himself from losing it— he couldn’t believe how close he already was.

He held her arms, attempting to bring himself out of her, but she stopped him, locking her fingers with his so he couldn’t interfere.

He surrendered. It felt too amazing to stop.

His voice was deep and heavy with lust, when he groaned, “I’m so close.”

“Let go, Ascher. I know you want to. Don’t hold back.”

He thought of how foolish her request was. If he didn’t hold back she could be hurt, or killed. He fought against the pleasure, shoving the tingles back down, stemming the overwhelming urge to come. He hesitated, stopping the thrusting, grabbing her hips to get control of his body.

He suddenly feared what his orgasm might mean for her.

“Don’t stop.” she moaned while wiggling free of his arms’ hold, her rigid tongue tracing circles into his neck. Her hips resumed their rocking, lashing him with their movement, forcing his orgasm to the edge. Her fingers twisted into his hair. “I’m close,” she moaned, her eyes glazing with tears. “I’m so close.”

It was too much, the intense heat inside her, the grinding, her tongue on his neck. The fire returned, burning more than it had before he’d stopped them.

She shook her head, her hand knotting in his head, now. Blazing a deep and penetrating stare into him, she moaned, “Come for me, Ascher. Don’t be afraid. I want you to come for me.”

That did it. His control vanished, leaving his primitive nature behind. A fuse blew in his brain as his wild and uninhibited side slipped out. He growled then clutched her hips, roughly thrusting himself into her.

About Ashlynne:

Ashlynne Laynne has always had a soft spot in her heart for vampires but grew tired of the garlic fearing, sun loathing creatures of old. An avid horror movie fan, she tends to enjoy media and music that is of a younger, more eclectic nature. This was the catalyst for her writing The Progeny. The vampire/witch pairing is unique and different when most books pair vampires with werewolves.

The infinite possibilities, for such a wickedly unique couple, intrigued her. There is no shortage of romance, steam and surprises in The Progeny. These books are for adults and contain adult sensuality and themes, but minimal profanity. She loves writing on the edge and teetering between the erotica and romance genres. She thinks of Ascher and Shauna as the damned version of Romeo and Juliet.

She’s currently working on book two of the series entitled Blood Bonds. In her spare time, Ashlynne enjoys cooking, reading and spending time with her family. Ashlynne juggles the hats of wife, mother, full time employee and part-time writer, hoping to write full time one day soon.

Ashlynne lives in North Carolina with her husband and teenage son.
