Boy it’s HOT!- The Sexy Librarian’s Big Book of Erotica

I was honoured earlier this year, when Rose Caraway asked me to write a short story for Cleis Press’s latest anthology, The Sexy Librarian’s Big Book of Erotica.

As a former library assistant, I am here to tell you…some of the things they say about librarians are true…

The Sexy Librarian's Big Book of Erotica

Why is this library different than any other library? First of all, it has velvet chairs and fine-grained bookshelves. But what really makes this library stand out is its sexy and brilliant librarian, Rose Caraway, who is very caring about her patrons and will stop at nothing to service her readers.

In The Sexy Librarian’s Big Book of Erotica, Caraway has gathered a wide range of stories to satisfy anyone’s lust, literary or otherwise, from today’s top eroticists. From Rachel Kramer Bussel’s spanking-fueled flight in “Book Swap,” Tamsin Flowers’ sexy superhero tale in “POW! It’s Shibari Girl!,” and KD Grace’s sweet supermarket rendezvous in “Cherries in Season,” the Sexy Librarian has got a special story for you.

Librarians are on the front lines of our freedom to read, to think and to look at anything and everything the printed word, the digital word and the Internet have to offer. They fight the good fight every day, to ensure that you can access whatever you wish, without judgment or censorship of any kind. Is it any surprise that Batgirl was a librarian by day? Barbara Gordon, head of the Gotham City Public Library and superheroine fighting crime by night. Librarians in the real world these days are as likely to have pink hair and tattoos as they are to fit the stereotype of sensible shoes and a cardigan.

The best thing about being a librarian is that you don’t have to know everything, you just have to know where to find it. And for those who believe there’s no need for librarians in the age of Google, I give you this quote from Neil Gaiman: “Google can bring you back 100,000 answers. A librarian can bring you back the right one.”

No wonder librarians are featured in the sexual fantasies of so many people. After all, the brain is the most important sex organ in the body. You don’t have to be a sapiosexual to recognize that, yes, intelligence is the sexiest attribute. Librarians, in my experience, are often both smart and sexy; they read widely and across many genres, from horror to science fiction to literary fiction and nonfiction. If it’s well written and thoughtful, a librarian is likely to enjoy it.

The Sexy Librarian’s Big Book of Erotica is a superb dictionary of desires. You’ll be amazed at what Rose Caraway, The Sexy Librarian has in circulation, just for you.

You can find on The Sexy Librarian’s Big Book of Erotica on Amazon, and from all good retailers.

Ten Years As Kay- Part 3- The Podcasts and Pictures

Welcome to the final of my mini blog series to celebrate my 10th anniversary of working in the world of erotica! It’s amazing how many things I’ve done as a result of my writing!

I can’t believe it was way back in Sept 2008 that I did my first ever podcast. Boy was I nervous! Thanks to the wonderful Dr Dick, aka Richard Wagner- I was quickly put at my ease- and so began, not only my first interview of many- but a friendship with Richard that I have treasured ever since.

It wasn’t long after that, that I did my first radio interview, for Talk Radio over in Spain- oh my word!! What a nightmare! Although I had been prepared for it to be a live show, and I’d been given all the questions that would be asked beforehand, I was a bag of nerves- not helped by the fact that in each advert break on the radio beforehand the presenter was making me sound like the dominatrix from hell! This was really annoying, as the whole point of the interview was to show that erotica writers were just normal wives, mum’s etc- not the stereotyped figures of the style she was alluding to!

When she actually began the interview, she didn’t ask me a single pre-prepared question, and was really hostile. All I could think about was the 3 million listeners!!! EEKKK.

I did my best, and was told it went well- but needless to say, that is not a station I will be going back to!!

I’ve lost count of the number of blogs I’ve written, newspaper and magazine articles I’ve been in, and the talks and readings I’ve given- and I’m still amazed by it all- amazed that people even ask me to do those things! And I really don’t want that feeling of ‘I’m not worthy’ to go. How awful it would be if that was the sort of thing I came to ‘expect’ to do! I’m just a writer after all!

I think one of the proudest moments for me, must have been when photographer David Woolfall took some pictures of myself and many of my peers, for The Independent. These photos have since appeared in many other magazines and online newspapers!! Incredible!!

And talking of proud moments- how can I not mention, the moment I was asked to be a Brit Babe! Or the day that  I learnt I’d been nominated for Best Erotica Writer of the Year by the ETO, and then going along, with my dear BB friends to the award ceremony- and then when KD won!!! Well- I was so proud I actually thought I might burst! Magic day.

Bringing things more up to date, last week I was lucky enough to be interviewed by the heavenly voiced, Rose Caraway, as part of her series promotion the forthcoming, Sexy Librarian’s Big Book of Erotica. I was honoured to be approached by Rose last year to write a short story for her book, and was even more ‘chuffed’ (Rose’s favourite English word), when that story was accepted. I loved talking to Rose- she is just wonderful- and if you’d like to hear what we said- take a listen-

The Sexy Librarian's Big Book of Erotica

I have been so lucky over the past 10 years- I’ve done things I never dreamed I’d ever do- photo shoots (with thanks to Vanity Studios), spanked people in a library (thanks Smut UK!), read erotica to strangers (bless you Sh! Women’s Store), taken a spanking lesson (ditto!)…Not what my teachers planned for me when I left school, that’s for sure!!

I’ll leave you in peace now- thank you so much for all your support over the last decade- let’s raise a cuppa to the next 10!!

Alien Wine, a Magazine Article, and an Extra Celebration!

Well if the rest of 2014 goes on like this, then it is going to be a great year!

Two of my favourite writers, Allen Dusk and Rose Caraway, have teamed up to produce a brilliant story- Black Sun Bound. Written by Allen, and recorded by Rose as part of her Kiss Me Quick podcasts series, the story includes a very special wine- Jaybeerian!!! Sound familiar! I asked the lovely Allen to tell me a little bit about the history to the story- and the wine- and here is what he said.

Rose asked me to write a story for her Nine Inch Nails project awhile back. I decided to go with sci-fi theme since her listeners were already familiar with that style of mine, except I took the story down a darker path. While plotting this space adventure called, “Black Sun Bound,” I was struggling with how I was going turn a bad-ass smuggler chick into a raving sex maniac. The concept of the alien wine popped into my mind: an elixir which numbed pain instantly and caused extreme arousal. My wife happens to read a lot of your work, and we had been chatting here and there online, so it just seemed appropriate to name something so indulgent after you. You’re a great writer, your words instantly soothe the hearts of many, and your erotica has smouldered between the thighs of countless readers. I’ll admit the word “Jaybeerian” looked strange the first time wrote it, but then I heard Rose read it in the story, and I knew I had made the right choice.”

I have to admit I’m overwhelmed by such an accolade and kindness. A huge thank you to Allen (and his wonderful wife), and Rose for including me in this incredible tale.

And thanks to Rose- you can listen to her delicious voice reading Black Sun Bound right now by clicking this complicated looking link!!!!!!

womans weekly

As part of a brilliant feature on erotic writers, Jane Wenham Jones interviewed myself, Hazel Cushion, Elizabeth Cage and Kd Grace about our lives and our work.

And last- but certainly not least- this week I had my 90th story acceptance!! I can’t tell you what for yet- but it was for a short story in an anthology…more news when it’s all official!!

So- not a bad start to the year- if you ignore the floods and gales!

Here’s hoping it has been a great start for all of you as well.

Happy Reading

Kay xx
