Opening Lines: Kd Grace is ‘In Training’

It’s ‘Opening Lines’ blog time again. This week I’m delighted to welcome my dear friend, Kd Grace, to share the first 500 words (precisely) of her novella, ‘In Training.’

In Training … Because, Aren’t We All?

Thanks for having me over, Kay. It’s always a pleasure to be on your wonderful blog. Sharing the beginning of my novella, In Training, is rather appropriate for me at the moment because I’m in training too. Oh, thank Gawd, not on reality TV like poor Lauren Michaels. I’m training for a pole photo shoot, having taken up pole fitness in a moment of insanity and then discovering that I love it, even if it’s a painful, bruising sort of love. I’ve been at it for ten months now and the photo shoot is a way of documenting my progress. I’m both excited and terrified. But in my case, the only camera on set will be that of the photographer, and the only people watching will be my own pole teachers.

No matter the situation, however, and no matter if what we’re training for is physical or mental or something else, there comes a point when we all have to give it all we’ve got and go for it. How much we fight ourselves before we get to that point becomes the challenge, and Lauren, well, she’s all about fighting herself, which makes for a comedy of errors that only reality TV could flaunt. Here are the first … slightly more than five hundred words of In Training. Enjoy.

In Training Blurb:

Getting fit on reality TV is PR guru, Lauren Michaels’, brainchild for gym equipment and fitness company Physicality, Inc. The brilliant PR stunt involves one brave volunteer who wants to be fit badly enough to submit to the not so tender training techniques of personal trainer, Wolf Jennings, whose successful, but non-conventional, methods would make a drill sergeant look like a fluff ball. But when CEO and owner of Physicality, Inc., Claire Amos, decides her PR ace in the hole needs to walk the walk, Lauren finds herself between a kettle bell and a hard place… er, a hard trainer. That’s nightmare enough, but for six weeks, 24/7, the explosive chemistry between the two will be sweated out live on camera for the whole world to see. What could possibly go wrong?

500 Words…

Chapter One—Everyone Loves a Bad Boy
“Everyone loves a bad boy.” Claire Amos paced back and forth in front of the big screen where Wolf Jennings’ face was freeze-framed over his howling wolf logo in front of the class he’d just put through their paces in Hope Park. She nodded up at the video. “Certainly your clients do. I bet you could make a drill sergeant quiver in his camos.”
“I do what it takes to help my people succeed.”
She waved a dismissive hand. “You and a hundred other personal trainers who’ve sent Lauren their impressive CVs.”
“So why me then?” he asked. “I assume there’s a reason I’m speaking to the CEO of Physicality, Inc. instead of its PR goddess.”
She sat down in the chair across the conference table from him with the kind of grace he’d expect from a woman who owned a company that manufactured multiple lines of gym and fitness equipment as well as franchised Physicality Gyms. She was clearly a person who took full advantage of her products. But everyone knew that about Claire Amos. They also knew she didn’t get where she was without playing hardball. She offered him a smile that wouldn’t have been out of place on a cat about to pounce. “Though Lauren’s idea for a fitness reality show is brilliant, sadly she knows next to nothing about health and fitness.” She glanced down at her hands—well manicured but calloused on the inside—from kettle bells, he’d guess. “That being the case, she’s left the final decision for the trainer and his lucky client up to me. Plus, it is my money.” She nodded up at his face on the big screen. “You’re here because of that.”
He smiled. “Because I can make a drill sergeant quiver in his camos?”
“You were an actor before you became a personal trainer. Why the change in career?”
“I’m a better trainer, and I like it more. I’ve been a personal trainer for a good few actors, though.”
“Yes, I know. I saw their rave reviews on your CV. But what I want to know is can you still act?”
He shrugged a shoulder toward the screen. “Every time I put on my boot-camp-bully-you-to-fitness face, I’m acting. A part of what an actor does is play off other actors. When the chemistry is right, the performance is electric. If my clients want boot camp, if they want me to cajole and bully, there’s my connection. They submit to my technique because they know I can get them there, and they walk away feeling that rapport between us.”
She stood and paced, then turned back to face him, arms folded across her chest. “Can you amp that up?” She flung a glance at the screen. “Can you be that bad boy for the next six weeks? Can you sustain it 24/7—in the gym and out?”
“If that’s what you want. But you have to understand for this to work, the chemistry would have to be such between…”

She’s fascinated with mythology and fairy tales, which inspires many of her stories. She loves to read. She loves anything that gets her out of doors. But she loves writing a story best of all.

Collared With Kd Grace!

Today I’m giving a shameless shout out to The Collared Collection; a boxed set I share with my lovely friend, Kd Grace.

collared-bundleThe Collared Collection Blurb:

The Collared Collection is a two novel boxed set from the pens of multi-award winning erotica writers, K D Grace and Kay Jaybee.

In the Voyeur by Kay Jaybee, wealthy businessman and committed voyeur, Mark Parker, has a list of 13 fantasies he is intent on turning into reality. Travelling between his London flat, his plush Oxfordshire mansion, and Discreet, his favourite BDSM club; Mark is helped to realise his imaginatively dark erotic desires by two loyal members of his staff – his personal assistant, Anya Grant, and his housekeeper, Clara Hooper.

Upon the backs of his willing slaves, Mark has written out his fantasy list in thick red pen. Only Fantasy 12 awaits the tick of completion against their flesh before Mark’s ultimate fantasy, Fantasy 13, can take place. But have the girls performed well enough to succeed in the final challenge? And what hold does Bridge’s gentleman’s club, Anya’s previous employer and a place she was delighted to escape from, have over Mark?

In order to find out, the girls are going to have to face some of the fantasies they thought they had left behind them all over again.

In The Pet Shop by K D Grace, in appreciation for a job well done, Stella James’s boss sends her a pet, a human pet. The mischievous Tino comes straight from The Pet Shop complete with a collar, a leash, and an erection. Stella soon discovers the pleasure of keeping Pets, especially this one, it’s extremely addicting. Obsessed with Tino and with the reclusive philanthropist, Vincent Evanston, who looks like Tino, but couldn’t be more different, Stella is drawn into the secret world of The Pet Shop. As her animal lust awakens, Stella must walk the thin line that separates the business of pleasure from the more dangerous business of the heart or suffer the consequences.

The Voyeur is cover to cover, cheek to cheek with Kd’s novel, The Pet Shop. Both of us agree that while these two novels are among our favourite erotic efforts, they don’t exactly fit in anywhere else, and yet, together side by side, the do quite nicely. This week, I’m very happy to share with you a delicious excerpt from Kd’s ‘The Pet Shop’….Enjoy!

Here’s an extract from Kd’s fabulous- The Pet Shop to whet the appetite…

Pets don’t like to eat alone. They prefer to sit on the floor by the table next to their keeper’s chair, where they enjoy being hand-fed. If this is not possible, place food in a bowl next to the water dish. Make sure meat is always cut into bite-sized chunks.

Note: The former is preferable, as most Pets and Pet keepers find sharing a meal in this fashion very enjoyable and a part of their bonding experience.

The manual was right. Once she got the hang of offering Tino choice morsels in her open hand, the laving of his velvety wet tongue, the slight nipping of teeth and curling of lips was lovely. He sat on his haunches, once again fully erect, resting his head on her naked thigh in between bites. If she hadn‟t been ravenous, she would have never been able to concentrate on eating. He was as happy to nibble the mushrooms and tomatoes as he was the bacon and eggs. The toast with honey forced him to lick the sweet stickiness off the tips of her fingers, even occasionally off her thigh when her efforts were clumsy with the excitement of having such an exquisite creature eating from her hand.

She‟d had a similar sense of excitement the first time a horse had taken a sugar lump from her hand. That something so powerful, something potentially wild and dangerous had allowed itself to be fed by her was an exhilarating experience. At present, the magnificent beast on the floor insinuated himself a little closer to her with each bite, and she was pretty sure this wild animal had more than food in mind.

Tino scooted and wriggled himself until, at last, he sat between her legs, his humid breath warming her mons.

With each morsel of food, he insinuated his waiting face a little closer to her pussy until her open palm with its offered tidbit was practically resting against her pubis. When a particularly sticky morsel of toast ended up on the chair between her legs, he carefully licked up every bit from the chair, and then he continued lapping his way right on up between her legs.

She caught her breath with a little whimper and a jerk. The bite of toast she was about to offer slipped from her hand onto her belly. Tino wasn‟t bothered. He simply squeezed in between the table and her body, forcing her chair back just enough that he could nibble and lick the toast and honey from her tightening abdominal muscles. That done, he picked up where he‟d left off, nibbling and licking between her pouting labia.

Fascinated and aroused by his eating habits, she grabbed a handful of egg and wiped it across her breasts and down her stomach, licking the remains from her fingers, feeling a bit animal herself. He raised his head again and worked his way up her belly nibbling scrambled eggs as he went, pushing her chair back farther and farther from the table.

She gave up on any semblance of proper table etiquette and slid onto the floor next to him. She grabbed the plate from the table on her way down, shoving a handful of egg into her own mouth before smearing more egg and a bit of tomato across her breasts and belly. Lying back she let Tino nibble and lap his breakfast off her body until she was writhing and grinding on the floor beneath his enthusiastic tongue.

He surprised her by taking a rasher of bacon from the plate and offering it to her, mouth to mouth. It was almost like a porn version of Lady and the Tramp as they gnawed and nibbled their way to each other’s mouth, tongues lapping and lips smacking the salty savoury taste of the meat.

She plucked a nice plump mushroom from the plate. It reminded her of the tip of a cock as she eased it between her slippery folds far enough that Tino had to work to get it out.

But Tino didn’t mind working for his breakfast. And by the time he had extricated the mushroom, she was completely convinced his tongue was prehensile. His face glistening with her juices, the mushroom pressed daintily between his lips, he slid up her sticky body and offered her the morsel with its unique sauce of their lovemaking. Together they gulped down the tangy fungus between gasps for breath, breath which seemed to be harder and harder to get as their meal continued….

Excerpt:

“Was this your idea or Dillon’s? Kelly asked, hoping to relax him.

“It was mine, after Andy told Dillon and he told me. I thought it was something that I …” The muscles along Lex’s jaw looked as though they were made out of iron, and a fine blush crawled up his neck tinting his ears bright pink. “I’ve never touched a woman … in that way.” He forced a laugh. “Obviously. I’ve …” the blush deepened and he avoided her gaze. “I’ve put lube on some of the sculptures – you know — down there, but I … well it isn’t the same.”

“The pears won’t be either,” she said, her heart suddenly aching at the physical isolation this man endured on a daily basis, and it wasn’t just her heart that ached, she felt his lack deep in her core. It had been easier with Andy. She had been almost flippant with him. She was sorry for that now. She spread one of the towels on the Queen Anne chair across from him and settled herself onto it so they were facing each other. “The texture will be different and with the pear there’ll be less give.” She dipped her fingers in the bowl and rubbed the heavy juice between her index finger and her thumb. “If you touch a woman, she’ll be much warmer.” She gave him a conspiratorial smile. “You’ll be amazed at how warm and how soft she’ll be down there when she’s ready to be touched. With Andy, this,” she nodded down to the pears, “was improvisation, this was the best I could do under the circumstances, but a woman, well a woman feels like nothing you’ve ever touched before.”

He was no longer avoiding her gaze. His eyes were locked on her, and he was struggling to keep them on her face, she knew that; she understood the urge for him to drop his eyes to the place of which she spoke, the place with which she was so intimate, the place that couldn’t help but respond to the topic, to the situation, to the strange intimacy they had shared almost since the moment they’d met. “You can look, if you want,” she opened her legs so that he could see the place in between clothed in black denim, completely disguised and yet so very obvious. “And I’ll look at you too,” she nodded down to his own jeans straining to contain him already. “It’s what men and woman are naturally inclined to do when there’s a sexual attraction.”

With her heart hammering in her throat, she took one of the pear halves into the cupped palm of her left hand, then she brought it down between her spread thighs, feeling the juice of it run over her fingers and drip onto the towel as she spread her legs a little farther and held her pam to mimic the position of her vulva. “Touch it like a woman would touch it, and you’ll always get it right.” She drug her index and middle finger up from the bottom of the pear to the center and felt her own body respond in empathy. “The pear has no folds, no secret valleys, no swollen flesh to be teased open, so you’ll have to use your imagination with that.”

Lex gave a little moan soft and deep in his chest as he shifted to make himself more comfortable. “I know the anatomy,” he said. “I’ve watched porn and I’ve studied drawings. I know how it looks like it might feel. I know the response it elicits.” His tongue flicked nervously over his upper lip. “Of course that’s just acting, isn’t it?”

“Porn is about fantasy, about voyeurism, and it doesn’t matter if it’s real if it gets you off. But when it is real,” she spread her index and middle finger up the sides of the pear’s central opening, “if you’re good, if your sensitive, you’ll feel the spasms of your lover’s orgasm, even see them if you’re using your tongue; and you can feel them gripping at your cock when your inside her. If you’re paying attention.

“The clitoris,” she laughed softly, “Well with Andy I used a Ticktack, but he’s a chemistry major. He likes charts and graphs and periodic tables. You’re an artist, you live in your imagination, so you don’t need a Ticktack. Some women like the thumb stroking and circling while the other fingers work inside. Some women like to use their fingers.” She demonstrated on the pear, and Lex groaned. “It’s always best to ask and be sure.”

Reviews:

“I was amazed at how well the author fanned the flames without the characters even touching. From well-detailed interactions to the steamy interludes, this is a story that is blazing hot.” 5 out of 5, The Romance Reviews

“Between helping each other, find themselves, exposing secrets and of course, some seriously steamy steamy situations, I fell hard for these characters. It’s really hard not to. Each one has their own secrets and darkness, but they learn from each other and feed off that. As much as this book is steamy and sexual, it’s just as emotionally driven. Yes, I shed a few tears, but they were happy ones.” 4 out of 5, The Jeep Diva

“This was a very different take on an erotic romance. I really enjoyed this story. The banter between Kelly and Lex was fun and interesting. Even without touching this book sizzles. The pacing was pretty fast. I don’t think I put the book down until I finished the story. Yes I loved the HEA ending. I also enjoyed the detailed character development and how the past events were slowly revealed.” 5 out of 5, Alpha Book Club

Reconnecting at Sh!

It had been way too long since I last took part in an erotica reading at the incredible Sh! Women’s Store. It had been so long in fact that I wasn’t sure anyone would come to the event Kd Grace and I held there this weekend.

Kay Jaybee has been keeping a low-ish profile over the past few months- and so I couldn’t help wonder if anyone would turn up. If you detect hints of paranoia here, then you aren’t far wrong. I can never get my head around the fact people want to take time out of their day to listen to me speak.

For a myriad of reasons I have felt rather disconnected from erotica in recent months. Many small things have happened to make me feel either unwanted within the kinky arena, or so far away from the style of writing that is currently popular, that I’m just not worthwhile as a writer anymore. I must stress that I DON’T say this in a bid for sympathy, but so you can understand that coming to Sh! this weekend was such a big deal for me. I was concerned that my inner Kay has been so squashed by reality, that she had left me.

I was thrilled therefore, when Renee told Kd Grace and myself that the event was sold out! A boost to the ego I can tell you!!

As I donned my Kay attire and headed to the shop with Kd, I was relieved to feel Kay coming back to me.

Greeted by the ever fantastic Renee, manager of Sh!, and her assistant, Alice, we were immediately surrounded by a crowd of enthusiastic  guests. I was delighted to meet the gorgeous Candy Snatch for the first time,  and catch up with Molly Moore and Michael Knight, Suzanne Portnoy, Meg Philips, Modesty Ablaze and her husband, Jane Fae, and Zak Jane Keir. It was also fabulous to see so many newcomers to the Sh! event scene. I hope we didn’t scare them too much! x

The evening began with Kd kicking off things with a reading from Toys for Boys and then I followed with a sexy snippet from The Perfect Submissive. After that we had some questions from the audience; some funny, some serious, but all interesting, and in some cases, challenging. I then dipped into a reading from my latest novella, Wednesday on Thursday. Kd followed with a piece from The Tutor.

The Tutor was written as a direct result of a writing masterclass I taught in Manchester almost two years ago. So we thought it would be fun to get the audience to have a go at a mini version of that workshop. Every member of the audience had 2 minutes to invent a kinky use for an item you’d find in a supermarket- they didn’t know what this item was going to be until they pulled an object card from my ‘Supermarket list’ bag!

Much laughter ensued as sexy uses for ice cream cones, greetings cards, and icing sugar were invented.

After a browse around the shop (so much I wanted to buy!) and a top of champagne and cupcakes, it was time for a few more readings and some more questions from the wonderful audience, before we round up the event- an hour later than planned due to everyone having so much fun!!

Then it was off to a local restaurant with Renee, Jane Fae, Kd and her lovely husband Raymond, for more laughter, great food, and great chatter.

In short – Sh!, the fabulous Kd Grace, and the fantastic folk of London who turned out to see us, showed me that Kay is still there. She may be a little quieter than usual, but you’d better watch out… because she has a lot of ideas that need turning into very wicked words…
